LSU’s Brij Mohan Invited to Participate in EU-China Project on Environmental Democracy

BATON ROUGE – LSU Professor Brij Mohan, dean emeritus of the School of Social Work, has been invited to contribute a paper in the international dimensions of “Democracy and Environment” at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China.
 

Mohan will deliver his 10,000-word paper on “Breathing Free: Experiments in Democratic Environmentalism: An Indo-American Experience” to the EU-China Project on Environmental Democracy, held Oct. 30-Nov. 10. Mohan was also invited to deliver three invitational keynotes at different universities in New Delhi, Bhuvaneshwar, and Mumbai, India.
 

The EU-China Project on Environmental Democracy is focused on the people’s participation in environmental decision-making and monitoring the process made in China that would be of invaluable significance to both European and other countries.
 

Mohan received his Master of Social Work degree from Agra University in India. He received his doctorate from Lucknow University in India and an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from M.K.Gandhi Kashi University in India.
 

Mohan is internationally renowned as a master educator, prolific author and social philosopher. Mohan was the recipient of a Distinguished Life Time Achievement Award in 2008. He took voluntary retirement effective 2010 to invest himself as a full-time writer.
 

Mohan is author of 18 books and more than 300 research papers and articles. His most recent books include “Development,” “Poverty of Culture and Social Policy” and “Society and Social Justice.” He is currently working on his autobiography, due out next year, titled “Kafka’s Cave: An Academic Memoir.”
