LSU’s Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach Units to Host Several Open House Events
BATON ROUGE – Several units in Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach will be hosting open houses to show off newly built centers. Each open house event gives the public a chance to hear more about the programs, services and resources now being offered to the LSU campus and community. All events will include refreshments and are free and open to the public.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs, or OMA, will host an open house on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. The OMA staff and student organizations will be sharing information about the programs and services being offered throughout the year. The office strives to cultivate cross-cultural awareness and understanding for the entire University community and is located in the Student Union Room 335.
The African American Cultural Center, or AACC, will be hosting an open house on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. This event will serve as the reintroduction of the newly renovated facility, which is the only free standing African American Center in the state of Louisiana. There will be tours of the center, information about ongoing and upcoming initiatives and opportunity to meet the staff. The AACC is located at 3 Union Square, Raphael Semmes Road.
The Women’s Center will host an open house on Monday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. The center will open its newly built doors to the campus and community to share more about the department’s mission, resources and upcoming programs. Visitors will also have a chance to network with members from the University Council of Women, or UCW. The council will be on hand to answer questions about the vision and goals of the UCW. The Women’s Center is located at 5 Union Square, Raphael Semmes Road.
