BATON ROUGE – Michael J. Kelly of Metairie and Haleigh A. Robbins of Nevada, Iowa, received LSU’s University Medalist honor, graduating with the highest undergraduate grade-point averages, as part of LSU’s 281st commencement exercises.

The pair were recognized during the summer 2013 commencement ceremonies, held on Friday, Aug. 9, in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Kelly received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the E. J. Ourso College of Business. He is a recipient of the Tiger Excellence Scholarship Award and the Society of Louisiana CPAs Scholarship Award. While at LSU, Robbins took part in intramural soccer, flag football and softball. He is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honor organization for financial information students and professionals. After graduation, Robbins plans to attend graduate school at LSU and earn a master's degree in accounting, as well as working as a graduate assistant. He will also begin work as an external auditor with Deloitte & Touche in the summer of 2014.

Robbins graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English writing and culture from the LSU College of Humanities & Social Sciences. While at LSU, she also took part in the Salt Company College Ministry. After graduation, she plans on substantializing her blog and eventually opening her own craft business. She would also like to raise a family with her husband, write novels for children and run a hobby farm.
