BATON ROUGE – The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, or OLLI, at LSU is having a membership drive for the membership year that starts July 1.

OLLI at LSU is a learning community of adults age 50 and over. Members can choose from more than 200 lifelong learning courses and activities per year, offered at 10 locations in around greater Baton Rouge and South Louisiana.

New members can join OLLI at any time during the year, but becoming a member in June or early July allows participation in the upcoming summer session. More than 50 courses are planned on a broad range of topics, including “The History of the Development of Medicine,” “Financial Crimes,” “Three Modern Irish Writers” and “Developing Louisiana’s Economy.”

In addition to participating in courses, membership benefits include LSU library privileges, a special membership rate for the LSU University Recreation Center, discounted registration fees for College of Music and Dramatic Arts Performing Arts Academy programs and invitations to social gatherings such as field trips, nature walks and coffees.
OLLI at LSU has more than 1100 members and consists of four chapters: Lagniappe Chapter in Baton Rouge, Cajun Prairie Chapter in Eunice, Felicianas Chapter in St. Francisville and Ascension Chapter in Gonzalez.
