LSU to Hold Ring Ceremony on April 21
BATON ROUGE – LSU is proud to present the “LSU Ring” to students earning the right to wear it at an official ceremony on Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. in the LSU Student Union Theater. The ceremony is open to LSU students receiving rings and their guests.
A long-valued symbol of success as an LSU graduate, the LSU Ring has historically enjoyed special status among students. In 1998, LSU established an LSU Ring Tradition Committee, comprised of student leaders and alumni. The committee initiated a ceremony and ring qualification standards, as well as suggested a few modifications to the ring design. Fourteen years later, LSU is adding new elements to the tradition of the LSU Ring.
As a part of the ongoing enhancements to the LSU Ring tradition, each LSU Ring now spends a night in the habitat of Mike VI before arriving at the LSU Student Union Theater to be placed on the hand of the student who earned it. The Mike the Tiger mascot will present each student his or her LSU Ring.
Chad Sabadie, a 2003 LSU graduate and sports anchor for WVUE in New Orleans, will address recipients and serve as emcee for the 2013 LSU Ring Ceremony.
The LSU Ring is reserved for alumni, undergraduates who have attained 75 credit hours and graduate students who have completed 18 credit hours. Each ring, manufactured by Balfour, is handcrafted, representing the uniqueness of LSU and serving as a lasting symbol of our proud traditions and values.
The LSU Ring Ceremony is coordinated by LSU Student Life & Enrollment, in partnership with LSU Finance & Administrative Services and the LSU Alumni Association. Visit http://studentlife.lsu.edu/lsu-ring for more information about the LSU Ring.
