04/11/2013 11:53 AM

BATON ROUGE – As part of this year’s PAISA Day activities, four former Louisiana governors will appear for a panel regarding the “The Evolution of State and Local Government: A discussion about the last 40 years.” The LSU Public Administration Institute and the Public Administration Institute Student Association will host PAISA Day on Wednesday, April 17, beginning at noon, in The Rotunda of the Business Education Complex.

According to PAI Director Jim Richardson, the panel will be made up of Kathleen Blanco, Edwin Edwards, Murphy “Mike” Foster and Buddy Roemer. Jim Engster, host of “The Jim Engster Show,” will serve as moderator for the panel

“This will be a very rare event, regarding the four governors’ panel,” Richardson said. “It will be just one of the many highlights for us on that day.”

Those wishing to watch the event online may do so by using the following link at that time: http://class.bus.lsu.edu/PAISA.

Richardson added that one of those highlights will be the awarding of PAI’s MPA Alumnus of the Year Award to Patrick Goldsmith. Goldsmith serves as the director of the House Fiscal Division for the Louisiana House of Representatives.

“We are looking forward to a great afternoon with the honoring of Patrick (Goldsmith) and an opportunity to hear from four people who have keen insight on the highest of state levels to talk about not only the past four decades but where they see our state and local governments operating in the future.”

PAISA Day honors current students, MPA alumni, Pi Alpha Alpha inductees and the LSU PAI Alumnus of the Year. Students and the general public are invited to attend the panel, but standing room will be available only on the second and third floors of The Rotunda. Invited guests of PAI and PAISA will be seated at tables on the first floor of The Commons for the panel, which will follow a plated lunch. The panel will begin at 1 p.m.

The Public Administration Institute at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business offers a 42-hour degree program that emphasizes management and financial skills for those leading public agencies, nonprofit and healthcare organizations and for-profit organizations that interact with governmental agencies. PAI’s faculty members are student-oriented and nationally-recognized for their expertise in their fields.
