Katrice Albert Next in Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Leadership Speaker Series
BATON ROUGE – The next speaker in the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Leadership Speaker Series will be Katrice Albert. Albert is the vice provost for Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach at LSU. Her topic will be women in business, and she will speak in room 1125 of the Business Education Complex, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27.
The official title of Albert’s topic will be “Power and Pearls, Essential Strategies for Career Advancement.” Albert is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives and policies aimed at cultivating a campus environment that embraces individual difference, sustains inclusion and enhances institutional access and equity. She is the founder and managing member of Third Eye Consulting Group LLC, and on July 1, she will assume the role of vice president for Equity & Diversity in the University of Minnesota System.
According to Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Director Sonja Wiley-Patton, Albert writes, speaks and consults on issues of cultural competence, corporate social responsibility, educational and workforce diversity, gender and dynamics of power, the complexities of diverse populations, educational access, community university partnerships and the application of psychological knowledge to ethnic minorities and other underserved populations.
“Katrice (Albert) is widely published and devotes much of her time to serving on local, regional and national professional, civic and educational boards,” Wiley-Patton said. “She is widely respected as an authority for diversity in higher education and last November was awarded the inaugural INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine’s Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.
DII’s inaugural Leadership Speaker Series this semester has already welcomed Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden and Campus Federal Business Development Director for Financial Education Blaine Grimes.
