Classicist, Historian Sarah Pomeroy to Speak at LSU Design Building February 25

BATON ROUGE – Classicist and historian Sarah Pomeroy, will deliver a lecture titled “Love Triangles and Pythagorean Women” on Monday, Feb. 25, at 4:30 in Room 103 of the LSU Design Building. The lecture is free and open to the public.  

 

Pomeroy is a distinguished professor emerita of classics and history at Hunter College. Her areas of research interest include the family in classical antiquity, Greek literature and papyrology. She is the author of 30 scholarly articles, and has authored or edited six books, including “Women in Hellenistic Egypt from Alexander to Cleopatra” and “Spartan Women.”

 

This lecture is sponsored by the LSU School of Art, the Classical Studies program in Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, the Women's and Gender Studies program and the Department of History.
