Registration for Spring 2013 Leisure Classes Has Begun
BATON ROUGE – Members of the LSU and greater Baton Rouge communities can use their leisure time to discover a new craft, polish a skill or learn to play a sport or musical instrument without investing a lot of time or money. The Spring 2013 LSU Student Union Leisure Class brochure and registration form are now available online at www.lsu.edu/leisureclasses.
Included in the Spring 2013 LSU Student Union Leisure Class schedule are 130 non-credit, personal enrichment classes, with 46 new and seasonal classes. Registration for all classes will continue until the class is full or until the class starts, whichever comes first.
Leisure Classes have something for everyone with classes in the following categories: book arts, clay, communication, culture, dance, drawing and painting, fiber arts, fitness and sports, food and drink, games, gardening, glass crafts, health, home improvement, jewelry, language, music, on stage, outdoors, personal growth, photography, professional development, special interest, woodworking and writing.
Creative-types will love the new art classes, including “Watercolor Painting: Flowers & Glass,” “Beaded Mosaics,” “Leather Crafting” and “Visual Poetry.” Those who appreciate good food and great drinks can indulge in classes like “Mediterranean Wines,” “Scotch Tasting” and “Sushi.” Looking to improve your home? Take “Basics of Home Maintenance & Repairs,” a new class that will allow you to tackle home projects with confidence. Increase muscle tone and improve coordination with dance classes like “Ballet,” “Latin Ballroom,” “Cha Cha,” “Foxtrot” and more. “30 Minute Abs” is an upbeat class that will give you noticeable results in a short amount of time.
This spring, Leisure Classes is excited to offer a selection of seasonal classes. These incorporate your favorite Mardi Gras traditions and include: “Beaded Jewelry: Mardi Gras Style,” “One Stroke Painting: Fleur de Lis,” “Balloon Twisting,” “Mardi Gras Cookies,” “Deco Mesh Wreaths: Mardi Gras,” “Beaded Mosaics and Mardi Gras Mask Workshop” and “King Cakes.”
