LSU to Host HIV/AIDS Awareness Events on Dec. 5
BATON ROUGE – On Wednesday, Dec. 5, LSU’s Office of Multicultural Affairs is partnering with the LSU Office of Health Promotion to raise awareness around the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Baton Rouge community with several events throughout the day. LSU is encouraging everyone to “Geaux Red” by wearing red on that day to increase the visibility and raise awareness of this ongoing epidemic.
HIV and AIDS continue to be a major health concern, particularly in Louisiana and especially in Baton Rouge. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of 2010, Louisiana ranked fourth highest in AIDS case rates nationally.
