LSU Readers & Writers Launches 20th Anniversary Season on Sept. 20
BATON ROUGE – Readers & Writers, LSU’s premier literary reading series, celebrates the launch of its 20th anniversary season with an event spotlighting two recent additions to LSU’s renowned creative writing faculty. Readers & Writers will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Baton Rouge Gallery located at 1515 Dalrymple Drive in Baton Rouge. This event is free and open to the public.
This “New Voices from the South” event will feature fiction writer Jennifer S. Davis, LSU assistant professor of English and author of “Her Kind of Want” and “Our Former Lives in Art,” and poet Metta Sama, LSU visiting assistant professor of English and author of “South of Here” and “Nocturne Trio.” The work of these nationally acclaimed writers offers new perspectives on our region and ourselves.
The mission of LSU’s Readers & Writers is to encourage literary exchanges between LSU and the community by providing a forum for readings and lively discussions of fiction, poetry and scholarship. Since its beginning in 1993, the program has hosted several Pulitzer Prize winners, numerous National Book Award recipients, up-and-coming literary stars and many renowned Southern writers.
