Christopher O’Riley to Perform Recital Sept. 13 at LSU School of Music Recital Hall
BATON ROUGE – Acclaimed pianist Christopher O’Riley, host of National Public Radio show “From the Top,” will once again visit LSU to perform some of his arrangements of Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Joni Mitchell on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the LSU School of Music Recital Hall.
The LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts’ first James M. Syler Visiting Distinguished Artist, O’Riley will also hold classes and private lessons with LSU music students throughout the week leading up to his performance.
O’Riley has become known as a specialist in creating and playing transcriptions of rock songs, with British alt-rock Radiohead a favorite. This program offers includes three Radio Head tunes along with Pink Floyd’s “Us & Them,” Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” and Elliott Smith’s “True Love.”
As host of “From the Top,” O’Riley showcases talented young musicians from around the country by turns interviewing them and having them perform for a nationwide audience.
