Frances Lawrence Named an Associate Dean of the E. J. Ourso College

BATON ROUGE – Frances Lawrence, Gerald Cire and Lena Grand Williams Alumni Professor in the Department of Finance at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, has been named as an associate dean of the E. J. Ourso College, effective June 8.


“We are excited to have Fran join our leadership team,” said Interim Dean Richard White. “She brings a wealth of talent and energy that will help our college continue to move forward in the days ahead. We’re lucky to have her.”


Lawrence has been employed by LSU since 1977. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1970, her master’s degree from Florida State University in 1975 and her Ph.D. from Florida State University in 1977. Her teaching interests include consumer finance, financial counseling and financial planning. Her research interests include consumer finance, poverty and rural health issues.


Lawrence will be responsible for quality control efforts with regard to curricula across the college. In particular, she will serve as the college’s focal point for maintenance of accreditation standards.
