LSU UREC to Offer Swim Lessons for Infants, Children and Adults
BATON ROUGE – Swimming is not only a skill that is enjoyable for both children and adults, but it also can help them stay healthy or even save a life. This summer LSU University Recreation, or UREC, will offer swim lessons designed for age groups ranging from 6 months old to adults.
Each session will feature several levels of lessons appropriate for a specific age group or skill level including: “Parent & Me,” designed for toddlers 6 months to 3 years old; “Aqua Tot,” for ages 3 and 4 years old; “Children’s Beginner/ Intermediate/Advanced” for ages 5 to 13 years old; and “Adult” for ages 16 years and older.
Each session will meet at the UREC Student Recreation Center indoor pool located on the LSU campus for a two-week period with four classes per week. Sessions are as follows:
- Session One: Tuesday, May 29 – Friday, June 8
- Session Two: Monday, June 11 – Thursday, June 22
- Session Three: Monday, June 25 – Thursday, July 13 (no lessons July 2-6)
- Session Four: Monday, July 16 – Thursday, July 27
- Session Five: Monday, July 30 – Thursday, August 3
UREC Swim Lessons are open to the public at a rate $100 per session for nonmembers and $60 per session for LSU students, faculty/staff, UREC members and their dependents. To register, visit the UREC Student Recreation Center or call 225-578-8601 with a credit card payment. Registration is underway and will remain open until the session is full or the registration deadline is reached.
“It is never too early or late to learn how to swim,” said UREC Assistant Director of Aquatics Melissa Hogle. “Learning to swim is both healthy and can increase enjoyment in the water this summer!”
