LSU Powerlifting Club Earns Another National Championship
BATON ROUGE – LSU’s powerlifting club team brought home yet another national championship as the men’s team won first place overall at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge
This makes it six consecutive years that an LSU Powerlifting team has won either a men’s, women’s or combined national championship.
Additionally, the team had several strong individual performances, as Kiela Badeaux, Vincent Bradbury and Malcolm Richard all came in first their respective weight classes. Travis Nichols, Bill Everhardt, and Kaitlyn Stewart came in a close second in their weight classes. Overall, the team had 15 members who placed at least in the top five in their respective weight classes. The LSU women’s team ended up fourth overall nationally.
This national championship continues a tradition of successful championship appearances that began in 2007 with a men’s and combined championship. The women’s team also won national championships in 2008, 2009 and 2011, and the club won Combined championships in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
