LSU Powerlifting Club to Compete for National Championship in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE – The LSU Powerlifting Club will be competing in the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge. The LSU club is seeking to continue its winning tradition at the national level, having won at least a men’s, women’s, or combined national championship every year since 2007. Spectators are welcome to enjoy the competition for an admission fee of $8 per day.
Competition begins Friday, April 13, at 9 a.m., and runs through until the award presentation on Sunday, April 15, at 6 p.m.
On Friday morning, LSU lifters Kaitlin Stewart, Kiela Badeaux and Vincent Bradbury will be lifting and looking to defend their 2011 national championship titles by weight class. Additionally, other club members will lift and contribute to the LSU combined score.
The team is extremely excited to compete in front of friends and family, according to Club President Tyler Abate.
“This is what we’ve been training for since last year’s championship ended,” he said.
