LSU Coastal Marine Institute to Celebrate 20th Anniversary With Symposium
BATON ROUGE – The LSU Coastal Marine Institute, or CMI, Research and Energy Industry Symposium will be Monday, April 23, from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in the Dalton J. Woods Auditorium at the LSU Energy, Coast & Environment Building.
This important 20-year milestone event will be hosted by the LSU Center for Energy Studies, the LSU School of the Coast & Environment, and the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, or BOEM. Events to be featured will include retrospectives by principal investigators on 20 years of valuable research, discussions on current offshore energy trends and ideas for solving energy issues facing Louisiana, and perspectives on the future of the offshore energy industry, specifically Louisiana’s oil, gas and marine minerals resources.
At the heart of the event lies the research conducted by CMI, a highly productive and cost-effective collaboration among LSU, BOEM – formerly the Minerals Management Service – and the state of Louisiana.
BOEM will also be recruiting employees at this historic event. Students and other jobseekers are encouraged to visit the BOEM booth during its specific recruitment hours: 9 -11 a.m. and 3 – 5 p.m.
Through CMI, more than $26 million in research contracts have been awarded to researchers at LSU, the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium, UNO and ULL, producing pivotal and foundational research as well as positively affecting the scholarly development of more than 100 graduate and undergraduate students.
