Join LSU Press to Celebrate the Publication of “Louisiana Saturday Night” and “Designing in Ivory & White”
BATON ROUGE – LSU Press invites the public to celebrate two new books released during the month of March by local authors Alex V. Cook and Suzanne Perron.
Music critic Cook’s latest title, “Louisiana Saturday Night: Looking for a Good Time in South Louisiana’s Juke Joints, Honky-Tonks, and Dance Halls,” will be launched at Teddy’s Juke Joint, located at 16999 Old Scenic Highway in Zachary, La., on Saturday, March 10, with an event beginning at 8 p.m. The launch is free and will feature the sounds of One More Time, as well as a chance to purchase autographed copies of “Louisiana Saturday Night.” Cook’s travelogue captures the people, places and festivals that define the Gumbo State’s indigenous musical culture.
The career, artistry and gowns of fashion designer Perron will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 14, from 7-9 p.m. at the Old Governor’s Mansion, located at 502 North Boulevard in Baton Rouge. This champagne celebration of Perron’s book, “Designing in Ivory & White,” will also feature her custom made debutante, wedding and Mardi Gras gowns. Tickets for this event are available at www.regonline.com/ivoryandwhite. All proceeds will benefit LSU Press, a non-profit publisher.
