LSU to Host NASA Workshop for Education Professionals

BATON ROUGE – NASA is offering a K-12 educator professional development workshop in partnership with the LSU College of Education and the LSU Cain Center on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Room 225 of Peabody Hall.  

The NASA Education Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, or STEM, Workshop is designed for educators to gain resources and activities for the P-12 classroom and for informal settings.

The workshop will provide the following:

• NASA-developed curriculum support resources that meet state and national standards.

• NASA Aerospace Education Specialists utilizing a train-the-trainer approach so participants can train additional educators in their school system.

• Ideas for integration of NASA Education resources and activities into lesson planning and curriculum.

• Hands-on, inquiry-based methods for teaching science and mathematics, as well as state-of-the-art methods for incorporating technology into teaching.

Seventy-five educators are registered for the workshop, including pre-service LSU teacher education students. Participants represent approximately 40 public and parochial  schools from across the state.
