Architect, Educator Marc Tsurumaki to Speak at LSU College of Art & Design Feb. 8

BATON ROUGE – Architect and educator Mark Tsurumaki will speak as part of the LSU College of Art & Design’s Distinguished Lecture Series on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 103 of the Design Building.

 

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Eskew + Dumez + Ripple.

 

Tsurumaki is principal at New York-based Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis (LTL Architects PLLC), an innovative, award-winning architecture partnership founded in 1997 along with Paul Lewis and David J. Lewis. In 2007, the firm received the National Design Award from the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. The firm was also selected as one of six American architectural firms featured in the U.S. Pavilion at the 2004 Venice Architectural Biennale.

 

The work of Tsurumaki and his partners has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York as part of the “Rising Currents” exhibition, and is featured in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Heinz Architectural Center and the Carnegie Museum of Art.

 

Tsurumaki is a licensed architect, American Institute of Architects member and LEED-accredited professional. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and his master’s degree from Princeton University. He is currently an adjunct professor of architecture at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, or GSAPP. He has taught at a number of institutions, including Yale University as the 2006 Louis I. Kahn Visiting Professor. For more information, visit www.ltlwork.net.
