LSU UREC to Celebrate Recent Renovations, New Equipment
BATON ROUGE – On Tuesday, Jan. 24, LSU University Recreation, or UREC, will celebrate the addition of 90 new pieces of fitness equipment and recent renovations to the UREC Student Recreation Center, or SRC. A brief ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. in the UREC SRC Weight Room, and the event is open to the LSU community.
Since December, LSU UREC has purchased and installed 90 pieces of new equipment that includes commercial lines of Cybex machine weight equipment and Life Fitness/Hammer Strength plate-loaded weight equipment. Additionally, 4,300 square feet of carpet in the Cardio and Weight Area was replaced with a rubber flooring that will better withstand the use in the fitness space. The final phase of the project included the resurfacing and painting of the nine SRC Tennis Courts.
The ceremony will be followed by “UREC All-Access: Try something new in 2012,” an event that will highlight recreational and fitness opportunities for students this spring. Scheduled activities will include fitness tips and weight room orientations, a bounce-out basketball challenge, a boot camp fitness challenge and a preview of the new UREC trip program.
Promotional giveaways will be available throughout the event and will include opportunities to win a free hiking, climbing, or kayaking trip, personal training sessions, fitness assessments and LSU UREC gear.
UREC All-Access will run from 5-8 p.m. and a valid LSU student TigerCard or UREC membership card is required for entry. LSU UREC would like to thank business partners, Powerade and Buffalo Wild Wings for their support of this event.
