Seven LSU Graduates Commissioned with ROTC Programs on Dec. 15

BATON ROUGE – Seven LSU graduates were commissioned during the LSU Army ROTC Fall Commissiong and the Southern University Naval ROTC Fall Commissioning Ceremonies on Thursday, Dec. 15, held at the Dalton J. Woods Auditorium of the Energy, Coast and Environment Building and the LSU Parade Ground respectively. Lt. Col. Mary L. Marston McKeon was the guest speaker for the Army ROTC Fall Commissiong Ceremony.

 

Four of the graduates were from the LSU Army ROTC program and three of the graduates were LSU students who participated in Southern University's Navy ROTC program.

 

The following is a list of commissionees by program and hometown:

 

LSU Army ROTC (4):

 

Chalmette - 2nd Lt. Michael Anthony Fernandez Jr. received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a concentration in criminology from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. Fernandez will branch military intelligence. His first assignment is at Fort Carson, Colo.

 

Nashville, Tenn. - 2nd Lt. Wade Lance McMinn III received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the E. J. Ourso College of Business. McMinn will branch aviation. His first duty station is with the 1-244th Aviation Regiment of the Louisiana Army National Guard in Hammond.

 

New Orleans – 2nd Lt. Michael Emmanuel Boutte Jr. received a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from the College of Engineering and will branch Transportation Corps. Boutte will continue his basic officer training at Fort Lee, Va.

 

Slidell - 2nd Lt. Bryan Edward Blust received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from E. J. Ourso College of Business. Blust will branch aviation with Delta Company in the 1/244 Combat Aviation Brigade of the Louisiana Army National Guard in Hammond.

 

Southern University Navy ROTC (3):

 

Brackettville, Texas – 2nd Lt. Joshua Nathan Kluzek received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a concentration in criminology from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. As a member of the United States Marine Corps, Kluzek will report to officer training school at The Basic School in Quantico, Va.

 

Ocean Springs, Miss. – 2nd Lt. Samuel Robert McGrury received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. McGrury will serve in the United States Marine Corps.  As a member of the United States Marine Corps, McGrury will report to officer training school at The Basic School in Quantico, Va.

 

Silver Spring, Md. – Ensign Jon Michael Vanderzwet received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies with a concentration in the Middle East from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. As a surface warfare officer, Vanderzwet’s permanent duty station is on the USS Nitze in Norfolk, Va.
