12/01/2011 02:51 PM

BATON ROUGE – The LSU College of Education will host another session of its “Live! Learn! Louisiana!” camp for third to fifth-grade gifted and talented students on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon in Peabody Hall at LSU.

The students are invited to join members of the LSU College of Engineering for a delicious workshop on the thermodynamics of ice cream. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the science of thermodynamics and heat transfer while creating their own desserts. Students will not only learn how to make ice cream, but also how the process relates to the principles of phase changes, freezing point depression, energy balances and other elements of thermodynamics.

Cost is $30, which includes supplies. Need-based financial aid is available and awarded based on family income and extenuating circumstances. To register, visit http://coe.ednet.lsu.edu/coe//LiveLearnLouisianaregistration.html.
