Dr. Robert Kadlec to Speak at LSU Counter-Terrorism Conference

BATON ROUGE – The National Center for Biomedical Research and Training, or NCBRT, at LSU will host its Annual Instructor Meeting at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, located at 201 Lafayette Street in Baton Rouge, on Nov. 3-4.

 

Events will include talks by experts in counter-terrorism, including Dr. Robert Kadlec the keynote speaker. Kadlec spent 26 years as a career officer and physician in the United States Air Force, serving in several senior positions in the White House, U.S. Senate, and Department of Defense. Most recently, Kadlec served as the special assistant to the president and senior director for biodefense policy on the Homeland Security Council. Kadlec also previously served at the White House from 2002-2005 as a director for biodefense on the Homeland Security Council, where he was responsible for conducting the biodefense end-to-end assessment, which culminated in drafting the “National Biodefense Policy for the 21st Century.”

 

The media are invited to attend Kadlec’s presentation on Nov. 3 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Instructors and speakers will be available for interviews immediately following the speech, from 10:30–10:45 a.m.

The NCBRT at LSU is a national training provider center offering courses in counter-terrorism primarily to emergency responders. The main source of funding for the center is through a cooperative agreement from the Office of Grants and Training, a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Preparedness Directorate.
