Professor Publishes First Undergraduate Loop Quantum Gravity Text

10/31/2011 02:19 PM

BATON ROUGE – LSU’s Jorge Pullin, co-director of the Horace Hearne Jr. Institute for Theoretical Physics, recently published a first of its kind textbook with the Oxford University Press and co-author Rodolfo Gambini of the University of the Republic of Uruguay.

Titled “A First Course in Loop Quantum Gravity,” it is the first textbook to cover the loop quantum gravity material at the undergraduate level, and was based on a course Pullin developed and taught at LSU.

“There is a lot of interest in loop quantum gravity among undergraduates and other physics enthusiasts, who want a more detailed treatment than what popular articles give but without the graduate level knowledge of physics all current textbooks on the subject require,” said Pullin.
