LSU Office of Communications & University Relations Takes Home Four SPRF Awards

BATON ROUGE – The LSU Office of Communications & University Relations won four awards at the 2011 Southern Public Relations Federation, or SPRF, conference against competition from Alabama, North Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi. The conference, held Oct. 2-4 in Point Clear, Ala., welcomed SPRF members from all walks of the public relations profession, including agencies, firms, universities and governmental relations.

 

The LSU Office of Communications & University Relations was honored with an Award of Excellence in crisis planning for the LSU crisis communications plan, a comprehensive, “go-to” guide for Communications & University Relations crisis communication response. Along with the LSU Office of Research & Economic Development, the LSU Office of Communications & University Relations received an Award of Excellence for strategic communications in the special public relations programs, 90 days+, less than $10K category for the LSU oil spill response, which included all efforts related to positioning LSU as the comprehensive authority in oil spill research following the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

 

The LSU Office of Communications & University Relations was also recognized with a Certificate of Merit in the special events, budget $20K+ category for the LSU Sesquicentennial celebration and a Certificate of Merit in the reputation/brand management – integrated marketing communications program category for the “Love Purple Live Gold” campaign.

 

SPRF, a network of public relations professionals who share a common interest in the public relations profession, recognizes outstanding work in the field of public relations through its annual Lantern Awards program. Awards, including Certificates of Merit, Awards of Excellence and Lantern Awards, are given in 25 categories. From those, the judges also select the Best of Show Award and two Judges’ Choice Awards.

 

SPRF has more than 1,300 members and is continuing to grow. SPRF is led by a volunteer board of directors and is considered the premier networking and professional development organization for public relations professionals in the Gulf South.
