LSU Student Media Brings Home Advertising Awards
BATON ROUGE – The LSU Office of Student Media’s advertising department was a big winner at the Fall 2011 Southern University Newspapers, or SUN, Conference. For the second year in a row, the advertising department at LSU’s student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, took home the coveted “SUNNY,” which is awarded to the SUN Conference school that garnered the most points in the advertising competition. Last year was the first year LSU had won such an honor.
“Winning this award is such an honor, given the caliber of schools that are SUN members,” said Kodi L. Wilson, LSU Student Media’s advertising advisor. “This is a great testament to the students who are willing to put in the work, be open to direction and ready to meet the same challenges as a professional. I’m proud and honored to work with such an impressive group of students on a daily basis.”
The list of individual awards from the SUN Conference are:
- Jaynie Lighter, of New Orleans, won first place in Best Individual House Advertisement for “I’d App That,” and second place in Best Individual Retail Advertisement for “Fred’s St. Patrick’s Day Party.”
- Lighter and Mary Seale of Bryant, Ark., won first place in Best Marketing Package for “LSU Marketing Packages.”
- Kasey Ball of Abita Springs won first place in Best Sales Proposal Presentation Video.
SUN has 22 member schools, including Duke, North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.
“We’re extremely proud of the performance of our students in the SUNNY competition,” said Robert Ritter, director of LSU Student Media. “Consistency is the key to excellence. The fact that LSU Student Media has one this award for two years running represents an impressive accomplishment.”
