LSU Continuing Education to Host Risk Assessment Course for Oil Industry Professionals
BATON ROUGE – LSU Continuing Education is offering a three-day course for professionals in the offshore oil industry, which will teach proper risk assessment techniques.
“The Essentials of Baseline Risk Assessment for the Offshore Petroleum and Associated Industries” will be held Nov. 1 - 3 and will provide a practical approach to baseline risk assessment programs. The course will teach companies how to reduce potential negative risk impact by establishing and maintaining measurable mitigation controls.
“This specialized management course will expose individuals to truly modern risk assessment practices,” said course instructor Pieter Demeyer. “The skills that these professionals will learn allow them to become better qualified and competent at risk management practice within all levels of management.”
The course will also cover topics such as how to apply techniques for hazard identification and risk assessment in the workplace, how to develop a baseline risk profile for companies and how to set measurable objectives and targets to limit negative risk impact.
“The Essentials of Baseline Risk Assessment course is ideal for managers, supervisors, company directors and all occupational health, environmental and safety professionals who conduct risk assessment,” said Lisa Graves, program coordinator of LSU Professional Development.
Demeyer is executive director and chief risk officer of USA Environment L.P. He is internationally known for his expertise in the petrochemical industry and has taught in environmental, health and safety training programs at universities and educational institutions across the globe.
