During LSU's 281st commencement ceremony, held on Feb. 9 in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, 715 students received degrees. Of the 715 graduates, 194 earned master’s degrees, eight received a certificate of education specialist and 123 received doctoral degrees. The August 2013 graduating class represented 43 Louisiana parishes, 33 U.S. states and 32 foreign countries. LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander, presiding over commencement for the first time as LSU president and chancellor, also delivered the commencement address.
Three LSU graduates were commissioned during the Summer Commissioning Ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Dalton J. Woods Auditorium in the Energy, Coast and Environment Building. From Aug. 17-25, LSU Greek Life's Panhellenic Council is holding its annual sorority recruitment, where hundreds of young women apply to join one of the university's 10 sorority chapters. LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander, right, greets a family from New Orleans in The 459 Commons dining facility during Move-In Day. Alexander visited numerous residence halls during the day, helping many students move items into their new on-campus homes.
Members of the LSU Tiger football team were among 200 student-athletes that pitched in to help students move into their on-campus residences during Move-In Day.
