Gov. Bobby Jindal announced a $2 million gift commitment from RoyOMartin for the renovation of Patrick F. Taylor Hall and engineering expansion for LSU's College of Engineering. Gov. RoyOMartin's gift bolsters the private funding in support of the college's "Breaking New Ground" campaign, to which donors have generously committed more than $30 million. Rick Koubek, dean of the LSU College of Engineering, thanked the Martin family for their contribution and stressed the importance of donors as part of public/private partnerships like the renovation and expansion of Patrick F. Taylor Hall, which will help transform LSU and Louisiana.
Landscape architecture graduate student Matty Williams demonstrates a new 3D scanner obtained by the College of Art & Design’s CxC lab through a Board of Regents grant. The scanner, along with a new CNC mill, will help students collect and manipulate data to expand their design and visual communication skills. Members of the local design community were able to see the new Art & Design CxC lab equipment in action during a networking session held Wednesday in the Design Building’s commons area and the Design Shop. A roundabout is currently being constructed at the entrance to campus on Dalrymple Drive at the intersection with West Lakeshore Drive.
