LSU honored its proud military heritage, while remembering the sacrifices and contributions of all U.S. veterans, with a Memorial Day ceremony on Thursday, May 30, at the LSU War Memorial on the Parade Ground. Zachary Fitzpatrick, pictured at the Louisiana State Capitol with Rep. Clay Schexnayder of District 81, was a Goldwater Scholar honorable mention and will conduct research in France this summer as part of the LSU-HHMI International Research program. The LSU Baseball team was honored by the Louisiana Legislature on Tuesday, May 28, after winning its 10th SEC Tournament title on Sunday. Chris Sciambra, Jared Foster and Chris Cotton joined head coach Paul Mainieri at the state capitol.
LSU Baseball head coach Paul Mainieri and players Jared Foster, Chris Cotton and Chris Sciambra met with Gov. Bobby Jindal on Tuesday after claiming their 10th SEC Tournament title on Sunday. The LSU Memorial Tower, or the campanelle – Italian for little bell, was built in 1923 and dedicated in 1926 as a memorial to those who gave their lives during World War I. The LSU Mounds, which date back approximately 6,000 years to the Archaic period, are some of the oldest Native American mounds found in Louisiana.
