The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation announced that Catherine Fontenot and Matthew Landrieu received the prestigious Truman Scholarship. They are pictured with Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost Stuart Bell, Honors College Director of Fellowship Advising Drew Lamonica Arms and Interim Chancellor William Jenkins. LSU students Bruno Beltran (right) and Corey Landry (left) have been awarded the prestigious, nationally competitive Goldwater Scholarship by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. Chitra Rajan, current associate vice president for research at Iowa State University, gave a presentation on Monday, April 8, as part of the interview process for the position of vice chancellor in the Office of Research and Economic Development.
LSU held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, April 5, celebrating the opening of the university’s new parking garage, located on Raphael Semmes Road between Highland Road and East Campus Drive, adjacent to the new Barnes & Noble at LSU. The nearly 750 parking spaces in the new parking garage are divided among student parking on the fifth and sixth floors; faculty and staff parking on the first floor; and paid meter parking on the second, third and fourth floors, all with access from East Campus Drive. Members of the LSU Ambassadors get ready to greet LSU Spring Invitational Program participants from various college on campus.
LSU Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost Stuart Bell greets students and parents participating in the LSU Spring Invitational Program in the Bo Campbell Auditorium in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes. Students with outstanding academic records were invited to participate in the prestigious LSU Spring Invitational Program on campus this week. The testing sessions, orientation programs, scheduling privileges and social activities provide significant benefits to those incoming freshman students. As some of the best students in LSU’s 2013 freshman class, LSU Spring Invitational Program participants are provided with the resources of the entire LSU community to help them succeed and make the most of their college careers.
