Mike VI, LSU's live tiger mascot, was born July 23, 2005, and came to LSU when he was two years old. He was moved into his home, north of Tiger Stadium on Aug. 25, 2007, and was introduced to the LSU community as Mike VI on Sept. 1, 2007. Mike VI, LSU's live tiger mascot, greets thousands of visitors on campus each year. Mike VI, LSU's live tiger mascot, is cared for by two students and a veterinarian in the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
Baton Rouge Mayor-President and LSU alumnus Kip Holden spoke at the International Cultural Center at LSU's dedication ceremony for the newly completed Komma and Allam Remembrance Garden on Thursday, Dec. 13. Named for Thomas Duckett Boyd, who came to LSU as a cadet in 1868 and was later a professor, commandant of cadets and president until 1927, the building now houses the chancellor's office, registrar's office and the bursar's office. The moon rising above Charles E. Coates Hall, named for a former LSU dean of what is now the College of Science and LSU's first football coach.
