LSU's Memorial Tower in the morning. The Museum of Natural Science in Foster Hall has a exhibit on Mike I, LSU's first live tiger mascot. For many communities along Louisiana's rapidly disappearing wetlands, life outside the levees is in danger of slipping away. The eroding marsh at Leeville has been documented in “Water Like Stone,” a film by Zack Godshall, filmmaker-in-residence, and Michael Pasquier, assistant professor of religious studies.
Hundreds of American white pelicans, some of the largest birds in North America, descend upon the LSU lakes as they head south in search of food for the winter. A boat enters the water at Old River Landing near Morganza. LSU's Vincent A. Forte River and Coastal Hydraulics Lab has a model of the Mississippi River that helps LSU and Louisiana officials evaluate potential sediment diversion locations and strategies.
