LSU's Center for Academic Success held a recognition ceremony for the Shell Tutorial Center in Middleton Library on Friday, Oct. 26. The Shell Tutorial Center offers free assistance with homework, test preparation, and study strategies in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and foreign languages. The LSU Colleges of Art & Design and Humanities & Social Sciences presented “Drawing Aside the Veil of Time: Unveiling of the Lost Murals of Allen Hall” on Sunday, Oct. 28. LSU alumna and art conservator Elise Grenier discussed the history of the murals and the restoration process, and the murals were unveiled.
Grammy-nominated cellist Matt Haimovitz met with LSU students in Professor Dennis Parker's class on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Later that evening, he performed with pianist Christopher O'Riley at the School of Music Recital Hall in support of their CD, "Shuffle. Play. Listen." Participants in LSU's fall "Brand Ambassador" class recently met on campus. Launched in spring 2012, the "Brand Ambassador" program is an effort to encourage communicators and other university employees to embrace and champion the LSU brand. High above the new Barnes & Noble at LSU bookstore, the "Flying Tiger" is a reproduction of the P-40 airplanes flown by the famous "Flying Tiger" group that fought in World War II and were commanded by Lt. Gen. Claire Chennault, who attended LSU from 1909-1910.
