LSU Interim President and Chancellor William Jenkins spoke to members of the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Sept. 12. As part of the LSU Public Administration Institute’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, former LSU Chancellor and current NCAA President Mark Emmert spoke in the Rotunda of the Business Education Complex, the home of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business, on Friday, Sept. 7. Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer spoke at LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication on Tuesday, Sept. 11, as a part of Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs Director Robert Mann’s honors course that explores presidential campaigns.
In a recent event at the Manship School of Mass Communication, former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer discussed his recent experience running for the Republican presidential nomination, and gave his thoughts on the coming general election and the campaigns of Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. On Sept. 13, LSU hosted the first in a series of Presidential Election Forums. The first forum panel included LSU Professor James Garand (center), Southern University Professor Albert Samuels (right), LSU Professors Chris Weber and Jay Shelledy (not pictured), and was moderated by LSU Professor Robert Mann (left). Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to join in on the conversation and get their questions answered during the 2012 Presidential Election Forums by using the hashtag #LSUvotes on Twitter.
Upcoming Presidential Election Forums will focus on various topics including the economy, foreign policy, healthcare, the environment and social issues. They will be held every Thursday until Oct. 25. For more information on the forums, consult the Around LSU section of the LSU Today. LSU Career Services held the Career Expo in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday, Sept. 11, for business, liberal arts and graduate admissions and on Wednesday, Sept. 12, for engineering, science, technology and graduate admissions. The Career Expo is LSU's largest recruiting event, drawing hundreds of recruiters and about 2,000 students and alumni. There are opportunities for students in all fields and at all levels to network with professionals, learn about career options and graduate and professional programs, find out about open jobs and generally explore their intended career fields.
