Members of LSU's Emergency Operations Center, or EOC, which was activated for Hurricane Isaac, are being briefed by D'Ann Morris, executive assistant to the chancellor, interim director of the LSU EOC and acting executive director of the Student Health Center, and Eric Monday, vice chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services. Interim LSU System President and Chancellor William Jenkins, along with officials from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, toured both the federal- and state-run shelters established on campus following Hurricane Isaac. Interim LSU System President and Chancellor William Jenkins met with Disaster Medical Assistant Team, or DMAT, responders who were manning the Federal Medical Station at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center following Hurricane Isaac.
Landscape Services' Fred Fellner (right) met with tree removal contractors to survey the Quad for damage caused by Hurricane Isaac. Luckily, the campus was spared from the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Gustav in 2008. On Sept. 5, LSU held the Student Involvement Fair for students to explore registered student organizations, community volunteer agencies and other involvement opportunities at LSU. The event was co-sponsored by Campus Life, Career Services, Involvement Peer Mentors, LSU Student Union, University Recreation and Volunteer LSU. LSU UREC's climbing wall challenged students' rock climbing skills during the Student Involvement Fair. The portable climbing wall is 24 feet tall and has four climbing stations of various skill levels and can be reserved by contacting University Recreation.
