LSU opened the Business Education Complex in March and began hosting classes in the new complex this fall. The BEC is composed of four buildings, totaling 156,000 square feet of learning and research environments, classrooms, labs and offices for faculty and college administration.
Architecturally, LSU's new Business Education Complex blends modern glass, metal and stone with sloped gabled roofs and arches to reflect LSU’s historic Italianate style and unique beauty. The four-story rotunda in LSU’s new Business Education Complex is the home of the E. J. Ourso College of Business’s student services, professional programs, institutes and college administration.
More than 750 LSU students, faculty and staff participated in the annual Community Bound service project on Saturday, Aug. 18. Community Bound seeks to construct positive relationships amongst students, faculty, staff and the Baton Rouge community. Community Bound is coordinated by Volunteer LSU and sponsors included Career Services; the Honors College; Greek Life; CCELL; LSU CUP; First Year Experience; Campus Federal Credit Union; and ARAMARK. The day was made possible through contributions from Jason’s Deli and LSU Facility Services. LSU students volunteered at Robert E. Lee High School; Westdale and Glasgow Middle Schools; Baton Rouge Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet; Wildwood, Magnolia Woods, Wedgewood, Westminster and Westdale Heights Elementary Schools; and the Old Lutheran Cemetery.
Mass Communication Instructor Jennifer Macha kicks off the fall semester in her visual communication class. The mission of the Manship School of Mass Communication is to produce highly competent communicators with broad knowledge and training in the liberal arts and the media. In 2012, the LSU Quad was voted the most beloved LSU landmark by readers of Country Roads magazine and was featured in the “Treasures of LSU” book in 2010. It serves as a beautiful location for students to study or relax between classes. Mike the Tiger attended the first day of classes at LSU for the fall 2012 semester. Mike was participating in a Mass Communication class to demonstrate his visual communication skills.
