LSU’s Department of Residential Life welcomed students on Move-In Day, Thursday, August 16, to all campus residence halls and on-campus apartments. Move-In Day provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere full of LSU pride and spirit for the anticipated 2,500 new and returning students moving to campus. This fall, students returned to East Laville Hall after a two-year, multi-million dollar renovation, which preserved the classic and historic beauty of the building but replaced everything inside with state-of-the-art furnishings, fixtures and equipment. Steve Waller, director of the Department of Residential Life, escorted William Jenkins, interim LSU chancellor and president, and Stuart Bell, LSU's new executive vice chancellor and provost, as they volunteered to help the students at several residence halls during LSU's Move-In Day.
The LSU Department of Residential Life now offers eight residential colleges. The Business Residential College is a living-learning environment where the next generation of business leaders are assisted in acclimating to the culture of the E. J. Ourso College of Business, and of business in general. This fall, students moved into Residential College One – North Hall, home to the Engineering Residential College, allowing more engineering, construction management and computer science students to reap the benefits of living on campus. Members of the LSU GeauxShop user group met on Tuesday at the Student Union to explore scenarios to make the system as user friendly as possible. LSU GeauxShop will transform the university’s purchasing process with a one-stop shopping environment in much the same way as typical Internet shopping sites.
