Coordinated by LA-STEM in the LSU Office of Strategic Initiatives, students participating in the Summer Bridge Program recently visited the LSU Museum of Natural Science, where they saw the first Mike the Tiger, who reigned as LSU's mascot from 1936 until his death in 1956. Required for all LA-STEM Research Scholars, the Summer Bridge Program is an intensive summer program that takes place during June and July before their first semester. Its purpose is to build a community among incoming students and to prepare each one for research and leadership roles at LSU. The LA-STEM Research Scholars Program, which hosts the Office of Strategic Initiatives' Summer Bridge Program, focuses on scholarly undergraduate productivity and success, and is one of the most prestigious awards offered by the university.
