Journalist Promise Hsu (Hong Xu), who spoke at LSU on Feb. 22, is an independent journalist based in Beijing. He is writing a book exploring the spiritual and intellectual foundations of a free and responsible civilization. Beijing journalist Promise Hsu spoke on “The Chinese Quest for Liberty” in the Hill Memorial Library. Hsu’s visit was sponsored by the Eric Voegelin Institute, Department of Political Science and Intercollegiate Studies Institute at LSU. Administrators of EDEN and NCBRT, met in New Orleans to sign a partnership to share curriculum and training resources. Students from the LSU’s Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness took first-place honors in a case study competition held by the National Grocers Association during its annual convention. The students and two faculty members accepted the award at the convention last week in Las Vegas. In January, LSU University Recreation celebrated the addition of 90 new pieces of fitness equipment, including commercial lines of Cybex machine weight equipment and Life Fitness/Hammer Strength plate-loaded weight equipment, and recent renovations to the UREC Student Recreation Center.
