Local ExxonMobil representatives presented the LSU Foundation with an $86,000 gift on behalf of Exxon Mobil Corporation during a Nov. 14 reception at the LSU Faculty Club.
Seniors Mo Isom, left, and Zachary Corbin were crowned as LSU's 2011 Homecoming Queen and King. The coronation took place at halftime of the Nov. 12 Homecoming game at Tiger Stadium.
LSU students were able to register as bone marrow donors this week, as the National Marrow Donor Program’s “Be the Match” registry visited campus Nov. 16, in Free Speech Plaza.
Free Speech Plaza, located on the north side of the LSU Student Union, is a popular gathering spot for students. The area regularly sees students, student organizations or other groups offering political opinions or other information. This year's LSU Christmas tree, which arrived on campus on Nov. 14. was purchased locally from Windy Hills Farm in Ethel, La. The 32-foot tree will be decorated with lights and ornaments recycled from previous Candlelight Celebrations, including energy efficient LED lights. The LSU Memorial Oak Grove, located just south of the Student Union, was dedicated in 1926. There are 30 trees, each dedicated to a fallen soldier who gave his life in service to the United States. One tree is dedicated to The Unknown, representing all who are missing in action and are remembered for their bravery.
The LSU Student Union recently underwent a major renovation, updating the facade as well as the interior of the building and adding numerous new businesses , as well as updated public seating and meeting space.
