On Nov. 7, LSU Chancellor Michael Martin participated in the Interior Design Student Organization’s “Interior Design at LSU: A Universal Design Experience” project. This project was created to help enhance awareness of handicapped accessibility when designing buildings. After navigating in and around the Design Building, Chancellor Martin shared his experience and praised the interior design students for working to make every space as available, as comfortable and as accessible as possible so more people can enjoy them. The LSU Louisiana Business & Technology Center celebrated its 23rd anniversary at on Nov. 1. The LSU Office of Research & Economic Development and the Gordon A. Cain Center for Scientific, Technological Engineering and Mathematical Literacy, in partnership with the National Science Foundation, sponsored the first CAREER Award Regional Forum on Nov. 8-9. George Hazelrigg, deputy director of the National Science Foundation, or NSF, Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation, or CMMI, unit, presented his views how faculty can best write proposals to win the CAREER award at the Louisiana NSF CAREER forum. The LSU Black Male Leadership Initiative Fellows Program hosted the inaugural LSU Preview Day, an outreach and recruitment event that targets black males in grades 7-9, on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The LSU Black Male Leadership Initiative is a long-term initiative aimed at enhancing and increasing black male recruitment, enrollment, persistence, performance and graduation at LSU. LSU will honor the contributions of all U.S. veterans, in particular those who attended LSU and served in ROTC, during the LSU Salutes program this weekend. The LSU Student Health Center offers medical services, mental health services and health promotion on campus.
