The LSU Center for Computation & Technology, or CCT, celebrated its 10th anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Energy, Coast and Environment Building. Demonstrations were held in the rotunda showcasing the vibrant work that CCT produces. The Center for Computation & Technology is an interdisciplinary research center located at LSU. CCT advances LSU’s Flagship Agenda and promotes economic development for the state by using computational applications to aid research and develop solutions that benefit academia and industry. Charlie McMahon, Tulane University's vice president for information technology and chief technology officer, was the executive director of the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative, or LONI, at LSU for many years.
In the wake of the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 27, 2011, Volunteer LSU, Student Government, the Residence Hall Association and the Greek Board of Directors came together to provide a collaborative response to the needs of the community under the moniker, "Tigers for the Tide." In the wake of the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 27, 2011, Volunteer LSU sent a group of LSU student volunteers during Fall Break to work alongside University of Alabama students as part of "Tigers with the Tide." Ed Horton, the Jones S. Davis Distinguished Professor of Human Resource, Leadership and Organization Development in the LSU School of Human Resource Education and Workforce Development, was honored on the field during the LSU game against Auburn.
