LSU Associate Professor of Geography Dydia DeLyser (far right) was associate producer on “The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club,” which was awarded a 2011 L.A. Area Emmy Award in the Arts & Culture/History category. The Gulf South Rotating Machinery Symposium celebrated its 30th anniversary at President’s Appreciation Day on Thursday, Aug. 18, at LSU. The contribution of numerous supporters was recognized at the Gulf South Rotating Machinery Symposium including the Center for Rotating Machinery at LSU and Michael Khonsari from the LSU Department of Mechanical Engineering.
LSU Chancellor Michael Martin was among the volunteers that helped students move into campus residence halls and on-campus apartments as part of “Roaring into the Halls” on Thursday, Aug. 18. Hosted by LSU's Department of Residential Life, “Roaring into the Halls” provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere full of LSU pride and spirit for the 2,500 new and returning students moving to campus. The newly renovated Kirby Smith Hall added moveable beds, wardrobes and desks to freshly painted rooms with new carpeted floors; updated the bathrooms; and added laundry rooms to each floor.
The LSU Flores MBA Program held its pre-program launch Aug. 15-19. As part of the LSU Flores MBA Launch, new MBA students participated in team building exercises at the LSU UREC Adventure Ropes Course. The LSU Flores MBA Program rigorously prepares students to earn an advanced degree that will help them enhance their careers. Full-time, executive and professional tracks are offered and provide schedule flexibility for those wishing to pursue their MBA.
Campus Federal Credit Union, one of LSU's generous partners in support of the teaching endeavors on campus, donated $22,000 to help faculty members travel to conferences where they will learn state of the art teaching techniques to bring back and share with colleagues at LSU. Campus Federal Credit Union hosted a luncheon during New Faculty Orientation,  sending a clear signal to the new faculty that the university and its partners value excellence in the classroom.
