LSU Chancellor Michael Martin served as keynote speaker for Louisiana Tech’s spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 21, at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston. During his commencement address, LSU Chancellor Michael Martin honored Louisiana Tech’s graduates and highlighted the collaboration and unique partnership opportunities between Tech and LSU. Thomas W. Atkinson Hall, located in the LSU Quad, originally housed engineering classes, but is now home to the LSU School of Architecture.
One of the beautiful oak trees in the LSU Quad. The Landolt Astronomical Observatory on top of Nicholson Hall was first opened in 1939. In early November 2005, the observatory had a grand reopening and the Clark telescope shows beautiful views of the sky to students and Baton Rouge residents. Sprinter Kimberlyn Duncan and the LSU track and field teams are competing at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds this weekend. Duncan won the 200 meters as the Lady Tigers won the 2011 SEC Outdoor Championship.
