LSU named Kevin Cope, a professor of English, and Robin McCarley, Barbara Womack LSU Alumni Association Professor of Chemistry, Distinguished Research Masters on Thursday, April 28, at the Faculty Club. C-SPAN television visited the LSU campus on Thursday, April 28, to film an episode of the series “Lectures in History,” in the class of LSU Manship School of Mass Communication Professor Robert Mann. LSU celebrated Earth Day on Thursday, April 28, on the Parade Ground.
The LSU Corps of Cadets held its annual Chancellor’s Day Parade, sponsored by the Cadets of the Ole War Skule, on Thursday, April 28, at the LSU War Memorial on the LSU Parade Ground. The Chancellor’s Day Parade is an opportunity for LSU Chancellor Michael Martin to re-assert the university's commitment to a military presence at LSU and express support for ongoing efforts to strengthen the Corps of the Cadets. The commandant of cadets uses the annual Chancellor’s Day Parade as the official change of command ceremony when the new corps commander officially takes command of the LSU Corps of Cadets.
The LSU Student Union recently completed a multimillion dollar renovation on March 4. The LSU Office of Multicultural Affairs held a meeting in the LSU Student Union. The LSU Student Union offers more than 20 meeting rooms with seating capacities for 10 - 1,311 persons. The much-anticipated Leisure Arts Studio has opened on the ground floor of LSU's Student Union. This state-of-the-art facility accommodates jewelry classes, stained glass classes, painting classes and clay classes, including hand building and wheel throwing!
