The LSU Manship School of Mass Communication’s Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs hosted some of the top minds in political communication as a part of the 10th annual Breaux Symposium this week. On Wednesday, March 30, LSU Chancellor Michael Martin announced that LSU has secured a landmark partnership with City Year, a leading national youth service organization. LSU became the first public university in the country to formalize a give a year Partnership with City Year, joining the ranks of private institutions including Bentley University, Duke University and Boston College.
The fifth annual Digital Media Festival serves to celebrate the creative and intellectual digital media work LSU undergraduates are producing in and out of the classroom. The winners in six categories were announced this week. The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business bestowed its highest honor upon five individuals  - David J. Bondy Jr., Garret “Hank” Danos, Teri G. Fontenot, Shaquille O’Neal and David P. Steiner - on Friday, March 18, during the Hall of Distinction Banquet & Donor Ceremony. Maurice de Crecy holds up a portfolio containing the Armand Duplantier Family Papers. De Crecy and Michel de Combarieu - both descendents of Duplantier's brother, Guy - traveled from France to deliver the papers, which were donated to LSU Libraries' Special Collections division during a March 26 ceremony.
From Saturday, March 19, through Saturday, March 26, the Greek Board of Directors at LSU and the Greek community partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge to build two homes in just eight days for deserving families during Greek Week. Since 2005, the Greek community has raised more than $750,000 for Habitat for Humanity through its annual letter-writing parties. This year, the Greek Board of Directors surpassed its goal for donations and raised more than $155,000. Students with outstanding academic records were invited to participate in the prestigious LSU Spring Invitational Program from March 30 – April 1. Mike the Tiger and the LSU Ambassadors welcomed 2011 Spring Invitational participants to campus.
Students are greeted by the LSU Ambassadors during the start of LSU Spring Invitational in the PMAC. Head football coach Les Miles spoke to prospective LSU students in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center during the Preview LSU portion of the annual Spring Invitational program. The LSU Student Union hosted a Meet LSU dinner for students participating in the Spring Invitational Program on Thursday, March 31.
On Saturday, March 26, more than 10,000 people came out to see OneRepublic headline LSU's annual Groovin' on the Grounds concert. Other musical acts included Jay Sean, Steel Magnolia, The Daylights and Stone Rabbits, the winner of the LSU Students on Target Battle of the Bands competition last October. The azaleas are in bloom throughout campus, highlighting the beautiful arched features that adorn much of LSU's campus. Renowned for its beauty, LSU is located on more than 2,000 acres and has been ranked one of the 20 most beautiful campuses in America.
