Entergy visited LSU on March 22 for a day of displays and demonstrations in Free Speech Plaza. During the event, LSU Foundation President & CEO Maj. Gen. Bill Bowdon presented the company with a commemorative gift acknowledging its support of LSU through the Forever LSU campaign. Bill Mohl, president and chief executive officer of Entergy’s Louisiana utilities, spoke about how LSU and Entergy are helping develop minds both in the classroom and in the community. Entergy was acknowledged for its support of the Forever LSU campaign. Entergy gave an “Arcs and Sparks” demonstration to show what can happen when a person comes in contact with a “live” electrical line during a day of displays and demonstrations honoring the company's support of the Forever LSU campaign.
LSU’s Office of Community Design and Development held an opening reception on Wednesday for its “Retrospective Prospective 2000-2011” exhibit, which commemorates more than 10 years of teaching, research and community assistance by OCDD, the outreach arm of the LSU School of Architecture. Pictured at the “Retrospective Prospective 2000-2011” reception are College of Art & Design Interim Dean Ken Carpenter, Chancellor Michael Martin, School of Architecture Professor Frank Bosworth and OCDD Director Marsha Cuddeback. Bosworth and Cuddeback have served as directors of OCDD since its inception. LSU School of Architecture Professor J. Michael Desmond discusses a part of the “Retrospective Prospective 2000-2011” display with Gary Peterson, a research associate in the LSU Coastal Ecology Institute. The exhibit will be on display in the Design Building through today.
Lori Bertman, president and CEO of the Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation; Andrew Schwartz, senior vice president of external relations for CSIS in Washington, D.C.; Chancellor Michael Martin; and Joseph Booth, LSU SDMI executive director, during Schwartz’s visit to Baton Rouge. Charles Fryling points out the azaleas and other plants on campus to his landscape architecture class. LSU’s Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture has the best undergraduate program in the nation, according to national rankings by DesignIntelligence. LSU students voted for a new Student Government president and vice president on Wednesday. A runoff is now scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, between Cody Wells and Kathleen Bordelon of "Together LSU" and David Jones and Kacey Brister of "Defining Our Future."
