2012 Fall Academic Calendar
Thursday, 8/30/12, 2:25 p.m.
The LSU family hopes this communication finds you safe and making progress toward recovery. Isaac left its mark on the LSU campus, but the damage was minimal. We are making rapid progress towards restoring function and form.
Classes will resume on Friday, August 31. Unfortunately we have lost three days of the fall 2012 semester, and that will require some adjustment. Cancellation of Fall Break will allow faculty and students to make up the loss of two class days. A Saturday will be designated to make up the loss of the third class day. That Saturday will be determined in the near future.
Closure for Hurricane Isaac August 28-30 (Tue-Thu)
Classes resume, 7:30 a.m. August 31 (Fri)
Final date for departments to recommend to Graduate School appointment of examining committees (requests for final examinations) for degrees to be awarded at fall commencement September 7 (Fri)
Fall Holiday CANCELLED October 18-19 (Thu-Fri)
The remainder of the academic calendar is unchanged. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., today, students will be able to recommence adding and dropping courses via myLSU.
We recognize that there is no perfect solution. This is the best approach for meeting the mission of LSU as well as the goals of our faculty and students. The implementation of these changes will require patience and cooperation by all.
As a result of the August 28 and 29 university closure, the academic calendar has been adjusted accordingly. Provided the university is closed for only these two days, two critical deadlines are changed as follows.
Final date for dropping courses without receiving a grade of "W," 4:30 p.m., deadline - Thursday, August 30.
Final date for adding courses for credit and making section changes, 4:30 p.m. deadline - Friday, August 31.
If the university is closed for more than two days, similar adjustments will be made.
More information regarding additional adjustments to the academic calendar will be distributed when the university reopens.
